Do You Need Orthodics?

If you have been living with foot pain for some time, you’ve probably heard about the healing power of orthodics, but you might not know just what they are, or what they can do for you. Orthotics are inserted into your shoes to help prevent and treat common foot problems. These foot problems can cause severe pain, not only in the feet but also in the back of your neck. Orthotics are designed to correct existing foot problems by properly aligning the bones and muscles of the foot, much like a corrective brace. Semi-rigid orthotics are used primarily by athletes.  They serve to promote balance and help support muscles, preventing strain. They are made from soft material that is reinforced by a rigid core.

Soft orthotics are used to relieve pressure and absorb shock. These are especially helpful for those who lack the fatty cushion on the bottoms of their feet and heels, and for those with diabetes.

I have plantafishitis in my left foot. Not spelt like this just sounds like it. Orthodics not working.?

Pain very bad. Stretching the calf muscle, icing foot, had it for six months. Need recommendations for pain management and exercise routine.

It's plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia are a group of tendons in the bottom of your foot. Plantar fascitis is the inflammation of these. I had this and went to the podiatrist. A cortisone shot only provided short term relief. However, with stretching and insoles (not the expensive ones, but from the drugstore) it eventually went away. Always stretch the calf muscles before AND after exercise. Stretching throughout the day can help too. Use the insoles diligently, i.e., in all your shoes. I think the thing that helps most of all is don't walk around barefoot, even in the house. I always at least wear slippers in the house, and usually athletic shoes with good support. If you have pain, take some ibuprofen or similar. Good luck.
