Scaffold Fitting – Essential in the Construction Business
Scaffold and scaffolding may refer to many things, but we are here to inform you about scaffolding in construction, which is a temporary structure, made out of different materials that have to encounter by means of a common feature. A high resistance factor in order to support safely equipment and workers above the floor or above the ground and an important little item that is indispensable in scaffolding is the scaffold fitting that is very frequently a drop forged fitting, an object of small dimensions used in order to provide a reliable combination of the components that form a scaffold system.
In order to have at least a small idea of what scaffold is you just have to know what a coupler is. A coupler is a drop forged fitting that holds the tubes used in scaffolding together. The most common so-called scaffold couplers group into three basic types: right-angle couplers, putlog couplers and swivel couplers. In order to join tubes end-to-end there are some joint pins (also called spigots) or sleeve couplers, created for this precise purpose. One can opt for using them either separately or together.
Of all the couplers that we have previously mentioned, putlog couplers join ledgers to transoms, the right-angle couplers join ledgers or transoms to standards and the swivel couplers have the specific purpose of connecting tubes at any other desired angle. The actual scaffold fitting (drop forged fitting) is staggered to avoid occurring at the same level in neighboring standards.
Scaffolds are actually only rarely a hundred percent independent structures. In order to ensure a constant as well as a correct space between the structure and the scaffold, a certain type of scaffold fitting – depending on the structure’s type, constructors’ choice and eventually let us not forget about the available financial budget – is used to link the two. General practice is to attach a drop forged fitting at a certain distance established by the people involved in the scaffolding on alternate lifts.
A scaffold fitting has to be always coupled to the scaffold as close to the junction of ledger (node point) and standard as it is possible. The years of experience in this field have shown that as many fittings as possible are extremely indicated, as well as a two-way rather than a one-way or a simple friction.
