What will they do?
I am newly pregnant (yeah!!) but scared crapless of going to the Dr. I make myself go every yr for a physical because I know its good-everything always comes back normal but my blood pressure is always high because I am soooo nervous! I know blood pressure is something they keep a close eye on during pregnancy so Im wondering what they will do? I have tried to slow my breathing and relax but it doesn t help as soon as I see that blood pressure cuff I get extremely nervous-I have been told I have white coat syndrome. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know how they will accuratly monitor this. (I have tried to take my pressure on my own but as soon as I inflate the cuff I get extremely nervous again). I don t want to take medication because it only when I go to the dr. Nervous just thinking about it....
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Tell the Doctors before they take your blood pressure how you are feeling. I have anxiety/panic attacks and tell them before we even start with the physical examination side of things. Most Doctors are really good and will try and make you feel more relaxed and more comfortable. My blood pressure is starting to creep up in the last trimester and they say if it gets too high I will be put on blood pressure medication, thats safe to take during pregnancy. Try not to stress over it, I know its easier said then done.
