Which Puppy House Training Methods Work Best And What They Are
House training your new puppy is one of the greatest obstacles most new pet owners face. There are so many methods to choose from that sometimes its hard to figure out where to get started. The good news is that it is not as complicated as most people think it is, and with a little work and determination, you to can establish your own puppy house training methods that work best for your puppy. This can make life a whole lot easier for you and your new puppy. And when hes trained, you can then show him off to your friends and they can admire your perfectly house trained puppy.
The first thing you need to do when starting to house train your puppy, is first setting some ground rules. You should determine where your puppy can and can not go in your home. Baby gates work great for this purpose. You may just want him to stay in your kitchen, as puppies have a great tendency to go to the bathroom on an absorbent surface such as carpet, rather then linoleum.
Some puppy house training methods you could use that work very well are:
1.Crate training. This method works very well for puppies of any age, and is a favorite for many dog trainers. Crate training help your puppy with potty training because they don't like to go to the bathroom where they sleep or eat, and will avoid it if possible. Remember not to leave your puppy in his crate for more then a couple hours at a time.
2.Puppy pads also are another method for house training a puppy. Puppy pads are a disposable, absorbent pad that you place on the floor where you want your puppy to use the bathroom. Although not as effective as crate training, they are a good puppy house training method to use became you don't have to keep your puppy in a crate while you are busy.
3.Establish a routine. This is probate the most effective of the puppy house training methods listed above. If you establish a good routine early with your puppy you will most likely have great success. A good routine includes feeding at the same time every day. Taking your puppy outside at the same times every day and going for a walk at the same time every day is also good routine. It all comes down to timing.
As with anything, you will need patients and determination and a lot of treats to successfully house train your puppy with these methods. After a few weeks of doing this, you will begin to see results in your puppy. This is when you know that everything you have done is working and if you just keep this up, you will soon have a very nicely trained puppy, and some proven puppy house training methods for your next one.

My chihuahua quit using his puppy pad what can i do?
My chihuahua used to use his puppy pad but now he would rather lift his leg where ever he can in the kichen can anyone help?
He only does it at night we have 2 cats also do you think they scare him at night cause during the day hes fine i do know the cats like to corner him
Heh...our chihuahua did the same thing.
For awhile, it was pretty horrible as he would go everywhere. I think the thing that helped the most was to put him on a strict schedule.
We started taking him outside before we both (my wife and I) left for work, and would take him out as soon as one of us got home. Setting your dog up on a schedule if very important. Yes, he/she will still have accidents, but by encouraging him to go outside with the schedule will really help in the long run!
