Why do my ears feel sore after wearing earplugs overnight?
Ive been wearing ear plugs to bed recently. I most often wear them during the weekend for 3 days straight. I find myself removing them at night from one ear or sometimes both. Then in the morning when i wake up my inner ear feels sore. Even sensitive to the touch at times. My fiance thought it was because it was the dispossable ones and they were too big but the reusable ones he got me still had me with a smaller discomfort. Is this normal??
Never mind the first post. Your ears hurt because the earplugs stay in by putting pressure on the ear canal. the ear canal is very sensitive to prolonged pressure.
Don't worry, you won't go deaf by wearing earplugs to long, nor will you have permanent pain from using them to much.
You do have to be careful about ear hygiene as prolonged use of earplugs can cause you to develop a infection of the ear canal. When you use ear buds, headphones, earplugs, etc. studies have shown that the bacteria count increases dramatically the longer you wear the devices.
