Braces for the second time?
I went back to my dentist the other day, I got treated by another guy about 6 years ago for TMJ and he made it worse (anyone else had this issue before) well, in the process of that doc making it worse, this doctor wants me to get invisalign to stabilize my bite (something about equilibrium or something) he said the other doc gave me a cross bite and thats why it got worse. Should I listen to this guy and get braces (invisalign) again if I had such a horrible experience with it the first time around??
You are asking about two different issues. One is regarding Invisalign and the other about correcting your crossbite.
If your teeth are in crossbite, that is a possible cause of your TMJ problems. It may not be the only problem, but you need to correct orthodontic problems before you can start looking at other factors which may be adding to your TMJ dysfunction.
How you get that done is a different issue. Every orthodontist you would go to would give you a little different answer, a different treatment plan. It doesn't mean that any one of them is wrong. It just means that there are many different approaches to solving the same problem.
It really depends how you feel about this orthodontist. Did he explain thoroughly to you? Do you feel comfortable and confident in his ability to help you? Don't base your feeling about the new dentist on the bad experience you had with the previous one.
