Is Choosing A Natural Cholesterol Med A Good Idea – What You Should Know?
Finding the right natural cholesterol med is no easy task, after all there are many different combinations herbs and homeopathic remedies all claiming to support to support healthy cholesterol levels naturally. But some might wonder why choose a natural cholesterol med anyway? After all don't those prescription medications I have seen on television work fantastically well!
The most popular type of prescription medication current being touted as the latest and greatest are known as HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. Some of the names currently on the market are lovastatin, atorvastatin, pravastatin, and simvastatin. They work incredibly well sometimes lowering bad cholesterol levels over 60 percent. Nevertheless, there is a dark side to these wonder drugs. The same thing that makes them so great is also what makes them dangerous, in some cases.
The reason for this is that your body not only needs, but requires, a certain amount of cholesterol for cell and muscle health. Your liver is in charge of making sure this occurs. These super drugs inhibit the livers ability to produce cholesterol thus causing cholesterol levels to drop too far too fast. A high percent of those taking these medications report aching muscles and muscle cramps. In rare instances prescription statins can cause muscle and cells death on a grand scale. This in turn will cause kidney failure. Other common side effects are constipation and abdominal pain.
So while effective, it is clear that there is certainly some risk involve. A natural cholesterol med works in a more gentle and balanced way, working with your body rather than fighting it every step of the way.
Most of the better natural cholesterol meds contain either a herbal extract such as red yeast rice, guggul gum extract, the B vitamin niacin, or other natural ingredient/ingredients such as policosanol (derived from beeswax), or lecithin oil. All of these natural ingredients work in their own way. Most either inhibit the absorption of cholesterol in the intestinal tract, or absorb excess cholesterol and send it out of the body in the form of solid waste. Additionally, those containing red yeast rice, niacin, and policosanol have been shown to raise good cholesterol (HDL) levels as well.
Is a natural cholesterol med right for me?
This a difficult question to answer and one that should be discussed with your doctor or medical professional, especially if other health concerns are present. What is clear, is that that almost any natural cholesterol med will produce very good results when combined with smart dietary changes, moderate exercise, and proper nutrition, all without the side effect risks so often associated with convention prescription medications. Other advantages of a natural cholesterol med is that they are reasonably priced, and due to their lack of side effects can be tried and evaluated safely.

If parents don't suport you how much debt is incurred for going to med school?
If parents don't support financially beyond BS, can one go to med school entirely on loans. How much will be the debt after 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency? Can one pay off some debt on residency stipends or the repaying of the debt can realistically start only after residency is complete?
State school may cost 16K in tuition/yr then why should one pay much more money for out of state med school or private med school. Is it worth not going to in state med school?
Depends on the school. You can get $38,500 a year in Stafford loans if you need it. Additionally you can get a Grad PLUS loan if that doesn't cover it (at a state school it should be enugh)
Once you are in residency, you can apply for an Economic Hardship deferement for the length of your residency. Just about all residents do this since your salary will be low. Then after residency your salary will go up, you can afford to pay your loans.
As far as state school vs. private school I tend to agree with you. For instance in Massachusetts you can go to UMass, Tufts, Boston University, or Harvard. Putting Harvard aside (more of a medical research school) is the education at BU that much better than UMass - you'll be paying 2 - 3x more. BU can cost $50-$70 per year.
