How to Grow Herbs in Pots and See Amazing Results in 10 Days
Growing herbs in pots is as easy as growing herbs in an outside garden. There is no difference from an indoor herb garden to an outdoor herb garden; they both need the same growing requirements. Whatever, Growing herbs in pots is a great way to have a herb garden in a confined area. Pots of herbs on the patio - near the kitchen - can also be a good focal point.
There are hundreds of herbs out there just awaiting for your particular taste or style. We have only included some of our favorites for now and plan to add more in the future. If you are not using a traditional style container be sure to poke some holes into the bottom for drainage and provide a drip plate if you are keeping them indoors. Mexican cooking styles might include chili peppers, cilantro and basil; French style would include thyme, lavender and French tarragon. Other combinations can be tried as well, such as herbs to add to your salads and barbecue herbs.
If you're looking for style as well as practicality, try using a Mexican strawberry pot. You can grow a bunch of different herbs in these types of pots and when you need some flavor for your food .
Since home gardens generally do not need large areas for herbs, pots are probably the ideal approach. Some of the annual plants, such as basil, chervil, anise and dill, will flower at high temperatures, but the perennials will continue to grow even if they flower. Ideally you should cut herbs soon after the dew has evaporated from the leaves in the morning. Harvest on a dry day that has been preceded by at least two sunny days. Any ideas what caused this? Not sure why but in our testing of Herb Gardens and seeing what works and what doesn't the above info seems to work best.
Ideally, it should be south facing, but if this isn't possible choose a situation that will receive plenty of light through out the day. Try to avoid a north facing place because it is unlikely the plants will receive enough light to grow properly. This is the second post tackling the idea of saving money on groceries by -- stay with me a minute, it's not entirely intuitive -- by cooking more . The idea, you see, is to stop paying crazy-high prices for commercial products, by making our own. One of the reasons that a container-grown herb garden is a good idea is that containers are mobile. Place containers of growing herb plants in a sunny location, ideally close to the kitchen door, where leaves and stems can be harvested conveniently while cooking.
