Mobility Scooters And Their Accessories

Mobility scooters are powered / electric scooters that enable people to get from one place to another more easily. A mobility scooter has a chair for the person to sit down on, wheels, and the steering and control panel at the front. At the flick of a switch the scooter is on the move and the person can steer the scooter using the handles.

Mobility scooters are available in a wide range of options and colours. Mobility scooters have different maximum speeds ranging from 4-8 mph. You can also choose from Pavement Mobility Scooters, which are great for travelling on the pavement oppose to the road as they are more narrow and so take up less space on the ground with 10 inch wheels for great traction, or Travel Mobility Scooters which are used for going longer distances with puncture proof wheels and being easy to dismantle and re-assemble to fit into the boot of a car.

The cost of mobility scooters depends on the type of scooter you are after and where you buy them from, but to give an idea they can range anywhere from around £700 - £2000. You can find some great deals online by typing ‘mobility scooter' into one of the major search engines such as Yahoo or Google and look through the websites. You can either visit the shop to see the scooter in person or you can buy it there and then for delivery.

Mobility Scooter Accessories

There is a wide selection of accessories available for your mobility scooter. You may wish to have some of the safety clothes that are available for when you are using the scooter; these are the bright yellow reflective coats which are particular good at night so drivers can easily see you to avoid accidents.

Other Mobility Scooter clothing is available such as capes that go all round the scooter and yourself to protect you from rainy and windy weather. Scooter coseys are great to keep you warm and cosy and give you something soft to sit on while you are using the scooter to make it more comfortable. Extra baskets are very handy to have and can be easily fixed on to the scooter, and so if you are going shopping or need to take a lot of personal belongings with you they can simply be placed in the baskets.

Mobility Scooter

I have a mobility scooter , why does it slow down on travelling down hills?

I always use it from fully charged. I use it on roads max speed is 8mph(please could someone tell me how to increase this!!). Now i live on a hill so go down hill everywhere. The scooter at times on a slope will slow for a bit then speed up again. Even if I have travelled 16 miles it will still do it on downhill slopes. Please could someone explain what is happening? The increase in speed would be welcome Thanks Will
sorry forgot to say powered by 2 73 amp batteries. How can i increase the speed?
Perhaps I have put it in the wrong category? Suggestions

Because it has a restrictor which stops it from going a certain speed.

Global Mobility Regimes (Mixed media product)

Global Mobility Regimes (Mixed media product)

$86.18

Global mobility refers to movements of people across international borders for any length of time or purpose. In addition to the world’s 214 million migrants, there are more than two billion annual border crossings of tourists, students, business people and commuters who travel internationally for stays of less than a year. This volume considers “global mobility” as an alternative concept to “international migration” in order to gain insights into international cooperation on movements of people across international borders; examines a set of interacting global mobility regimes: the established international refugee regime, a latent but strengthening international travel regime and a non-existent but potential international labor migration regime; and explores the possibilities of increasing international cooperation, especially through linkages among these three issue areas.

Such Corporate Mobility Management (CMM) initiatives are the focus of this report which investigates the success factors in individual best practice cases at the company level as well as the roles, if any, public authorities can play in facilitating the uptake of CMM. The report provides guidance to governments on effective strategies for addressing and mitigating the traffic generated by commuter and customer travel.

The Limits to Travel

The Limits to Travel

$79.95

‘A highly readable but challenging perspective on the established conventions of transport policy planning and economic appraisal ... a fascinating tour d'horizon of topical transport issues.’ David Quarmby CBE chairman of the Independent Transport Commission ‘David Metz again challenges conventional thinking in transport through a fundamental reinterpretation of the limits of travel time and human mobility arguing that there should be maximum limits set for mobility if we are to avoid unacceptable environmental damage.’ David Banister professor of transport studies Oxford University 'The first book to address the links between why we travel how we travel and the environmental impacts of our actions that will ultimately limit our travel. The arguments in the book challenge conventional transport economics and policy and ... will stimulate debate about both transport policy and the future contribution of travel to global warming.' International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development As affluence grows it gets easier to travel faster and further. But research shows that despite this the average travel time in all societies remains steady at roughly an hour a day. The implication is that people are choosing to increase the distance they regularly travel rather than opting for shorter journey times. While this clearly offers advantages in terms of reaching more desirable locations the disadvantages are numerous - not least that of anthropogenic climate change to which transport is the fastest growing contributor. However the stability of travel time does not form part of the present conceptual framework of transport policy makers and professionals - consequently misconceived decisions lead to unintended outcomes. In this intriguing book David Metz examines the inadequacies inherent in the current thinking along with the resulting problems such as pollution congestion and noise. He highlights the impact of the rapid increase in car use in China and India and explores the general travel experience public vs. private transport and transport technology. In considering to what extent travel could be avoided he arrives at a new paradigm to underpin sustainable transport policies based on the fundamental characteristics of human mobility and focusing on quality not quantity of travel. Travel Medicine

Travel Medicine

Travel to exotic places is fascinating, and equally so are infections and other dangers of exotic travel. Moreover, one need not be traveling to suffer these maladies; sometimes they travel to you. The enormous global mobility demands a public health response. The result is the concept of 'travel medicine' as a separate discipline. This book describes the evolution of travel medicine, travel vaccines, malaria prophylaxis and infections of adventure and leisure. This book is unique and different to the standard textbooks on travel medicine. It provides rare insights into many of the behind-the-scenes in travel medicine, personal stories of failures and successes of travel medicine practitioners, the 'real life' tales that unravel the science behind travel medicine. We believe that the best lessons are learned from personal stories. Not every travel is fun. Some travel is for a cause, be it religious or humanitarian, or be it to escape certain political systems. We have added stories on the tragedies of so-called 'undocumented refugees', and stories written by colleagues who were involved in humanitarian care. Pilgrimages attract large number of 'travelers' and yet we know so little about these pilgrimages. Chapters on the Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian pilgrimages aim to correct this. Diseases also travel. The spread of global diseases and pandemics is fascinating. This book provides an overview of the pandemics, in particular that of cholera, yellow fever, severe acute respiratory syndrome and influenza. Globalization, migration and health lead to a history of disease and disparity in the global village - our world. And what about the revised International Health Regulations- what do we need to know about them in the context of travel medicine? In the next millennium, our world will have inherited further global movement. It may even include travel to aerospace. The 'Epilogue' awakes some of our old dreams - the last frontier, space travel. Annelies Wilder-Smith has lived in China, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, New Zealand, and Switzerland. She is currently based in Singapore from where she continues to travel extensively throughout Asia. She is the Head of the Travellers Health ' Vaccination Centre in Singapore, one of the largest travel clinics in Asia. She was in a unique position to do research on W135 meningococcal disease in Hajj pilgrims during the outbreak. She 'lived through' the SARS epidemic in Singapore. Eli Schwartz is the Director of the Center for Geographic Medicine and Tropical Diseases at Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Aviv University, Israel. Eli is a 'real' tropical medicine specialist. He obtained all his experience in the field, including Nepal, Tibet, and numerous adventure travels to Africa where he prefers to do his studies on the sides of the Omo River. Marc Shaw is a passionate traveler, doctor, actor and observer of fine humor. His favorite pastime is to be an expedition doctor. This has taken him
