5 Great Ways To Lower Blood Pressure Using 1 Great Fruit
Have you had your lycopene today? If you ate a green salad with fresh chopped tomatoes, then you not only got a healthy dose of this powerful antioxidant, but you have also taken significant action toward lowering your blood pressure. A recent double-blind study conducted in Israel has confirmed what hearth-healthy Italians have enjoyed for centuries - tomatoes (and tomato sauce) lower blood pressure and the risk of heart disease.
Dr. Esther Paran, head of the hypertension division of Soroka Medical Center, led up the Israeli study. It involved patients who were already being treated for hypertension, but were not responding well to the medications. Dr. Paran had patients take a supplement of tomato extract. The results were a significant drop in blood pressure after just four weeks.
Tomatoes are so effective at lowering blood pressure because they contain lycopene. This potent antioxidant is even the focus of some hybrid tomatoes grown by the Israeli company, Lycomato, in order to have higher concentrations of lycopene in each piece of fruit. Other antioxidants found in tomatoes make this one super-food in the prevention of heart disease. It can even help keep LDL cholesterol from oxidizing which makes it stick to the arteries and narrow the passage way causing blood pressure to increase.
Even during the peak growing season it can be difficult to consume four whole tomatoes each day, which is the recommended amount for having a positive impact on blood pressure. Here are some ways to get the benefits of tomatoes without having to eat them straight off the vine.
1. Make Chili. Using tomato puree, which is a concentrated form of tomatoes, as the base for your chili utilizes the antioxidants without the bulk of a whole tomato. Add some ultra-lean and high protein ground bison and kidney beans with minced garlic and onions, and cayenne pepper and you have a heart-healthy main course and a full day's allowance of tomato.
2. Since using olive oil with the tomatoes enhances the curative quality, make your pasta sauce red with tomatoes, tomato paste and olive oil to sauté the garlic and onion. Tomato paste used in making sauce contains more than 10 times the nutrients of a single tomato.
3. Have a fresh salad as a side dish to either of these entrees and cut one whole tomato on top. You'll get one-quarter of you tomato intake right there.
4. Drink tomato juice. It is better to make your own fresh juice so that you can control the sodium. Store bought juices can be high in sugar and sodium-based preservatives. If you have a juicer, you can make some incredible veggie juices to suit your own tastes by adding carrots, celery and some low-sodium seasonings.
5. Take a tomato supplement. If you just can't stomach tomatoes, then a 200 mg supplement provides the equivalent of more than the recommended four tomatoes.
Adding tomatoes to your diet can reduce systolic blood pressure by 10 points and diastolic pressure by 4 points as was evident in the Israel study. Whatever way you slice it, tomatoes will keep strengthen your immune system and lower blood pressure.

i was at the doctors yesterday , because i was bleeding and spotting blood for 5 days now that is not my period and different colors , im 17 dpo. i had an ultra sound and he was so sure of me being pregnant, he pointed to a dark part inside my uterus and said thats the sac , then he said that its very obvious that the bleeding u are having isnt a period because the walls were thick , he was sure i was pregnant. THEN to be sure he took some blood to have a blood test and it came back negative .... he told me then ur not pregnant.
im so depressed what could this be , if i was pregnant and had a misscariage wouldnt i get alot of heavy bleeding and clumps in my bleeding? my bleeding is barely there .
could the blood test be wrong????
If you miscarry very, very early in pregnancy it usually comes across as a period. The embryo at your point would be smaller than a grain of rice. However, the blood test would pick up any trace of hcg in your blood and if there is none, then you aren't pregnant. I'm sorry for what you are going through. Good luck!

Promises in Blood $8.78 Death metal didn't originate in Scandinavia any more than jazz originated in New York City; the blues originated in Chicago; or Afro-Cuban son, mambo, guaguancó, and cha cha originated in Puerto Rico. But just as the Big Apple became synonymous with jazz, Chicago became a blues mecca and Puerto Ricans became major players in Afro-Cuban music, death metal/black metal is now closely identified with the Scandinavian countries. That is true of the ultra-harsh, totally unforgiving stuff as well as the more nuanced approach known as melodic death metal (which is closely related to symphonic black metal). But saying that melodic death metal has been a largely Nordic phenomenon in the '90s and 21st century isn't saying that it has become an exclusively Nordic phenomenon -- and on Promises in Blood, Florida's Paths of Possession remind listeners that there is no reason why American moshers shouldn't continue to participate. One shouldn't forget that before Sweden and Norway became such crucial players in death metal/black metal, Florida was the home of producer Scott Burns and sledgehammer bands like Deicide, Obituary, Death, Malevolent Creation, Possessed, and Cannibal Corpse. In fact, the lead singer on this 2005 release is none other than George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of Cannibal Corpse fame. But Promises in Blood isn't nearly as extreme as the grindcore that put Cannibal Corpse on the map. Fisher's vocals on this CD are generally a deep, guttural, demonic growl, but this time he is bringing his growl to songs that have real song structures and honest to God melodies. While Cannibal Corpse favorites like Butchered at Birth and Eaten Back to Life are exercises in brutality for the sake of brutality, Paths of Possession are -- for all their heaviness and intensity -- much more musical and nuanced. Blood Alliance $11.98 Power Quest were formed by keyboardist Steve Williams in 2001, following his departure from DragonHeart, a band that would soon change its name to DragonForce and go on to great success in the realm of power metal. Power Quest haven't been as commercially successful as DragonForce, but their songs are better. They're catchier in a classicist, AOR way, with plenty of keyboards and ultra-clean vocals in between the shredding guitar solos. Power Quest play it pretty down the middle as power metal goes; their songs aren't as speed-crazed as those of DragonForce, Gamma Ray, Firewind, Helloween, or other similar bands, and they don't do epic concept albums about fighting dragons and recovering magic swords from caves or anything like that. Indeed, it's hard to say what their songs are about -- the lyrics are strings of banal clichés meant to bridge the gap between solos. Things get a little ridiculous at times -- the synth intro to "Survive" is brain-meltingly cheesy, and the song as a whole just sounds like Williams is trying to make DragonForce take him back, while "Better Days" sounds like it was written to soundtrack a training montage in an '80s movie about a high-school wrestler recruited to battle Soviet soldiers, or something. But it's all still pretty thrilling, if power metal is your thing. And that's the key to appreciating Blood Alliance. It's a power metal record that stays firmly within the stylistic borders of that genre. There's no olive branch extended to people who don't like endless guitar solos, anthemic choruses about nothing, or fleet-fingered synth melodies. Legacy of Blood $13.58 With violent imagery so rampant in the past decade of hip-hop, the fact that Jedi Mind Tricks' third album manages a cover shot that actually succeeds in shocking is either impressive or disturbing, depending on your disposition. Same goes for Vinnie Paz's tougher-than-leather flow that hollers down "faggots" and paints pictures of ultra-violence in a way that would make A Clockwork Orange seem almost friendly by comparison. This is hard music for hard times, and it makes no concessions to the blinged-out mainstream on JMT's left flank, nor the conscious emo-rap on the right. But walking the middle ground, he declares "I don't want to die anymore/I don't want to cry anymore/Don't want to lie anymore...I just want y'all to be dead" on "The Worst," and it's hard to sympathize. Producer Stoupe's minor-key beat suites chime melodically, yet feature tempos just quick enough to keep up with Paz's manic energy. In fact, keeping up with Paz gets exhausting at points, but guest MCs Des Devious, Sean Price, and Killah Priest keep up nicely with the absolutely stunning rhymes by GZA on both versions of "On the Eve of War," and actually have a calming effect (despite the album's hokiest beat on the main version of the cut). Though probably too aggressive for anyone old enough to clearly remember JMT's classic 2000 album, Violent By Design, Legacy of Blood is not without its moments.
