What are the pros and cons of getting a water proof cast?
I broke my arm 3 weeks ago, and I am getting a new cast tommorow.
I currently have a non-water proof cast and it smells soo bad (from accidently getting it wet.)
If i get a wawter proof cast, does it come in colors? Will it still smell?
My son broke (shattered) his arm in may 2008 and was going to be in a cast until Nov or so. After surgery incisions healed we did the waterproof cast. It is actually just a Goretex type liner that goes on your arm then they cast over it. It had channels for the water to run through and dried quick etc.... It was totally worth the $50.00 upcharge I had to pay. They can cast over that liner just like the other type so it did not affect the color choices he had! Made everything much easier and it did not smell.....we had his cast replaced every 3-4 weeks though because of the type of injuries he had....
