Born to Run was released in 1975 and it contained some of The Boss’s hits that helped land him at the top of the charts. “Born to Run” and “Thunder Road” both received massive airplay and both came to define the true sound of Springsteen as a singer and songwriter and also the depth of his character. Springsteen’s most successful album was released in 1984. Born in the U.S.A. became one of the best-selling albums of all time with seven singles hitting the top ten. The title track offered some bitter commentary on the treatment of Vietnam War veterans-many of whom were Springsteen’s own friends and bandmates.
